Range: Indo-Pacific Ocean: East Africa to Samoa and Tonga, north to Southern Japan, and south to Queensland, Australia.
Size: 14 inches (35 cm)
Natural Environment: Inhabits muddy lagoons, seagrass beds, and seaward sandy slopes at depths between 30 - 100 feet (10 – 30 m) in small groups and mainly feeds on worms, shrimp, small octopuses, crabs, snails, and small fishes.
General Husbandry: Somewhat unattractive/drab having a silvery body with a horizontal dark band through the eye, black spot on the caudal peduncle and a centrally located yellow patch on the upper mid body.
