Range: Western Atlantic Ocean: North Carolina to Brazil, also throughout the Caribbean.

Size: 3 inches (8 cm)

Natural Environment: Inhabits sandy areas near deep reefs having grassy and rocky areas and usually found at depths between 6 – 150 feet (2 – 45 m) where it feeds upon benthic invertebrate.

General Husbandry: Not normally collected for the trade.
