Range: Indo-West Pacific Ocean: Southern Japan, and the Gilbert and Marshall Islands.

Size: 1 inch (2.5 cm)

Natural Environment: Inhabits silty sheltered reef areas and usually is associated with Heliofungia actiniformis. Usually found at depths between 10 – 100 feet (3 – 30 m) where it feeds upon benthic invertebrate/zooplankton.

General Husbandry: Rarely seen in the trade, having a pale reddish body with gold rims around the eyes and a couple of lighter red/gold lengthwise lines.

Best maintained in fish-only or reef aquariums with wide-open course grained (2 – 4 mm) sandy areas also some loose rubble where it can hide if feeling threatened.

Should only be housed with small, peaceful tankmates.

As to diet, should be fed finely chopped fresh or frozen meaty foods, e.g., krill, marine fish flesh, mysis, scallops, shrimp, clams, and be fed once daily.

If difficult to get feeding, try live adult fortified brine shrimp.
