Range: Indo-Pacific Ocean: East coast of Africa to Line Islands, north to Southern Japan and south to Queensland, Australia.

Size: 22 inches (55 cm)

Natural Environment: Inhabits deep lagoons and steep outer reef slopes where it’s usually found at depths between 30 – 100 feet (10 – 30 m), yet does go as deep as 500 feet (150 m), where it feeds on small fishes and crustaceans.

General Husbandry: Has a mottled reddish-orange body, often with small white patches. Not collected for the trade.
