Range: Eastern Pacific Ocean: Southern California to Peru, and the Galapagos Islands, Cocos Island, and Clipperton Island.

Size: 36 inches (100 cm)

Natural Environment: Inhabits rocky offshore islands lagoon and is found at depths between 6 – 125 feet (2 – 38 m) where it feeds on small fishes and crustaceans.

General Husbandry: Juveniles have a black body with wide white vertical bands, with adults grey with pale bands. Not collected for the trade.
