Range: Indo-West Pacific Ocean: East Africa to Southern Japan, Marshall Islands, south to Fiji, New Caledonia, and northern Australia.
Size: 16 inches (40 cm)
Natural Environment: Inhabits areas near caves and ledges in inner coastal and lagoon reefs and is found at depths between 65 – 200 feet (20 – 60 m) where it feeds mostly on small fishes and crustaceans.
General Husbandry: Juveniles have a black body with white spots, with adult’s light grey or brown with pale white blotches. Not collected for the trade.
