Range: Western Atlantic Ocean: Bermuda, and Gulf of Mexico to Brazil.

Size: 32 inches (80 cm)

Natural Environment: Inhabits coastal reefs with juveniles found in turtle grass beds and mangrove areas and adults found on rocky reef bottom areas at depths between 3 – 150 feet (1 – 45 m) where it feeds on small fishes and crustaceans.

General Husbandry: Has a dark brown body with light tan spots and several lighter colored vertical bands. Not collected for the trade.
