Range: Central Pacific Ocean: Midway and Hawaiian Islands.

Size: 12 inches (30 cm)

Natural Environment: Inhabits urge zones in lagoons and subtidal reef flats and usually found at depths between 30 – 300 feet (10 – 90 m) where it feeds on shellfishes, encrusting algae and live stony corals.

General Husbandry: Has an overall reddish brown body with its central area having a wide yellowish white vertical band, and small reddish vertical bands on the jaw. Not collected for the trade.
