Range: Indo-West Pacific Ocean: Red Sea to Line and Ducie Islands, north to Southern Japan, south to Shark Bay, Lord Howe and Rapa Islands.

Size: 18 inches (45 cm)

Natural Environment: Inhabits outer exposed reef areas rich in coral growth and usually found at depths between 3 – 85 feet (1 – 25 m) where it feeds mainly on algae.

General Husbandry: Colors vary between sexes and its stage of growth (phase). Not normally collected for the trade.
