Range: Indo-West Pacific Ocean: Red Sea south to Algoa Bay South Africa, and east to Southern Japan, and south to south to Perth, New South Wales, and also the Eastern Pacific Ocean in the Gulf of California to Ecuador.

Size: 36 inches (90 cm)

Natural Environment: Inhabits lagoons and outer exposed reefs and usually found at depths between 3 – 300 feet (1 – 90 m) where it feeds mainly on algae.

General Husbandry: Colors vary between sexes and its stage of growth (phase). Not collected for the trade.
