Range: Indo-West Pacific Ocean: Red Sea and East Africa, east to Society Islands, north to Southern Japan, south to Shark Bay and the Great Barrier Reef.

Size: 16 inches (40 cm)

Natural Environment: Inhabits lagoons and outer reef areas rich in coral growth and usually found at depths between 3 – 65 feet (1 – 20 m) where it feeds mainly on algae.

General Husbandry: Colors vary between sexes and its stage of growth (phase). Not collected for the trade.
