Range: Indo-West Pacific Ocean: Red Sea to South Africa, east to Hawaii, Marquesas, and Tuamotu Islands, north to Southern Japan, and south to Lord Howe Island.

Size: 12 inches (30 cm)

Natural Environment: Inhabits lagoons and reef flats rich in coral growth and usually found at depths between 6 – 85 feet (2 – 25 m) where it feeds mainly on algae.

General Husbandry: Colors vary between sexes and its stage of growth (phase). Not collected for the trade.
