Range: Indo-West Pacific Ocean: Red Sea, to Southern Japan, south to Lord Howe Island and Australia, also the eastern Pacific Ocean: Cocos and Galapagos Islands.

Size: 50 inches - (125 cm) width and 132 inches - (330 cm) length

Natural Environment: Inhabits lagoons and outer reef slopes and sandy tidal flats and usually found at depths between 65 to 200 feet (20 - 60 m) where it feeds on small fishes and exposed invertebrates.

General Husbandry: Not collected for the trade.
