Range: Indo-West Pacific Ocean: East Africa to Southern Japan, and south to the Great Barrier Reef and New Caledonia.

Size: 12 inches (30 cm)

Natural Environment: Inhabits crevices and caves on protected reefs, and can be found at depths between 80 - 200 feet (25 - 60 m) during daylight hours, and feeds at night mainly on zooplankton and crabs.

General Husbandry: Has a bright red body with whitish scales and small black blotches on all but the pectoral fins. Rare in the wild and not collected for the trade.
