Range: Indo-West Pacific Ocean: East Africa to the Marquesas Islands, north to the Southern Japan, and south to New Caledonia.

Size: 8 inches (20 cm)

Natural Environment: Inhabits crevices, caves and areas under ledges on reef flats and outer reef slopes at depths between 50 - 150 feet (15 - 45 m) during daylight hours, and feeds at night mainly on zooplankton and crabs.

General Husbandry: Has a reddish body with a small dark blotch behind the eye. Not collected for the trade.
