Range: Indo-West Pacific Ocean: Christmas Islands in the eastern Indian Ocean to Hawaiian, Marquesas, and Tuamotu Islands, north to Southern Japan, and south to northwestern Australia, and New Caledonia and Rapa Islands.

Size: 18 inches (45 cm)

Natural Environment: Inhabits protected lagoons and reefs rich in coral growth and usually found at depths between 3 – 500 feet (1 – 150 m) where it feeds on small fishes and crustaceans/benthic invertebrates.

General Husbandry: Not collected for the trade.

Aquarium Suitability: Large fish-only aquariums
