Range: Western Atlantic Ocean: Florida to Brazil, Gulf of Mexico, and also the Caribbean.

Size: 7 inches (17 cm)

Natural Environment: Inhabits sandy bottoms in protected lagoons and usually found at depths between 10 – 50 feet (3 – 15 m) where it feeds where it feeds on hard shelled prey.

General Husbandry: Not normally collected for the trade.

Those in this genus need very deep sand beds to dive into if frightened, or they will injure themselves greatly!
