Range: Indo-West Pacific Ocean: Maldives east to Papua New Guinea, north to Taiwan, south to Hawaii, Australia, and New Zealand.
Natural Environment: Inhabits intertidal areas/tidepools and seen attached to coral rubble and broken shell material where it forms a mass of dark green spongy to the touch branches that are repeatedly forked.
General Husbandry: An edible seaweed for Hawaiians, yet an infrequently seen species in the aquarium trade. In aquaria, requires bright light, moderate water movement, and occasional trimming to keep in within the preferred aquarium boundaries, yet herbivorous fish may find it to their liking!
Nevertheless, only suited for nutrient rich environments.
