Range: Northwest Atlantic Ocean

Natural Environment: Inhabits exposed areas on shores in the lower littoral zones.

Aquarium Suitability: Not considered a desirable aquarium species yet does have value as an organic fertilizer, and in the production of products like toothpaste and cosmetics. In Japan its used for some culinary purposes.
