Range: Wide spread throughout the warm Indian and Pacific Oceans.

Natural Environment: Inhabits tidepools and reef flats to 15 foot (5 m) depths where it's found attached to rocky substrates.

Aquarium Suitability: Rarely seen in the trade, yet this crunchy alga is quite hardy and makes for an interesting display. Requires bright light and moderate currents, and attention to calcium and alkalinity levels as its somewhat calcified.
