Range: Mediterranean, Indian Ocean, Western Pacific, and Western Atlantic Ocean.

Natural Environment: Inhabits intertidal areas/tidepools.

Aquarium Suitability: An unsuitable aquarium species and should be removed when first seen, as it will quickly spread and cover wide areas of the substrate.

Potential Control Species: Fish: Acanthurus achilles, Acanthurus japonicus, Acanthurus leucosternon, Acanthurus lineatus, Acanthurus olivaceus, Acanthurus pyroferus, Ctenochaetus hawaiiensis, Ctenochaetus striatus, Naso brevirostris, Naso lituratus, Zebrasoma desjardinii, Zebrasoma flavescens, Zebrasoma scopas, Zebrasoma veliferum and Zebrasoma xanthurum.
