Range: Western Atlantic Ocean: Caribbean, and also Florida Keys and as far north as Tampa Bay.

Natural Environment: Inhabits loose and very soft muddy sand, yet infrequently found in mostly sandy areas at depths of 6 - 65 feet (2 - 20 m) where it reaches heights of about 20 inches (50 cm).

Aquarium Suitability: Would require a high aquarium and a very deep organic-rich sand bed with moderate tidal-like currents, and moderate light.
