Range: Indo West Pacific Ocean: Red Sea, eastern Africa, and north to Japan and south to the Central Pacific Ocean along with western and eastern Australia.

Natural Environment: Found along upper reef slopes, sometimes in a vertical position and somewhat common in some locales .

Aquarium Suitability: Not purposely collected for the trade.
