Range: North Atlantic Ocean: Arctic to the Mediterranean.

Natural Environment: Inhabits mud or sand below the sublittoral zone, down to about 100 feet. Also found in areas with varied wave and tidal exposure, but have been noted to be most abundant in wave sheltered habitats.

Aquarium Suitability: Not collected for the tropical home aquarium.

Has a temperature range of 40 to 65°F (4 - 18°C).
