Note: These very tiny crawling worms, sometimes called 'Hair Bellies’ because their cilia is located on the belly side, are mostly less than two millimeters in length and live in mud and sand. They are a member of the meiofauna found in healthy substrates/sandbeds. They have a gliding motion and a sticky substance used to adhere to substrate particles. They feed upon bacteria and tiny alga cells. Those that live in anaerobic areas are believed to get their oxygen from nitrite and nitrate. A valuable addition to all sandbed aquariums.
