Range: Western Atlantic: Canada to New York, Bermuda, and Gulf of Mexico to Brazil.

Size: 7 inches (18 cm)

Natural Environment: Inhabits lagoon sandy and muddy covered bottoms on coastal reefs and usually found partially buried in the substrate at depths between 3 – 300 feet (1 – 90 m) where it feeds upon small fishes and crustaceans.

General Husbandry: Not normally collected for the trade.
