Range: Indian Ocean: Northern and Central Red Sea.

Size: 5 inches (12 cm)

Natural Environment: Inhabits shallow coral rich lagoons, bays, and seaward reefs at depths between 3 to 60 feet (1 – 20 m) and feeds only on stony corals. Adults are found in pairs, while juveniles are solitary and are generally found inhabiting coral heads.

General Husbandry: A very attractive species, as its body is almost completely bright yellow except for several thin curved horizontal black lines, and a whitish toping along the upper most of the body, including a good portion of the dorsal fin. There’s also a couple of black bands around the head that are connected at the throat and its chin, mouth anal and tail fins are jet black.

Because of its diet of only live coral polyps, its best this species not be collected for the aquarium trade.
