Range: Indo-West Pacific Ocean: Red Sea to Line and Tuamoto Islands, and north to Southern Japan and south to Great Barrier Reef and Rapa.
Size: 4 inches (10 cm)
Natural Environment: Inhabits sheltered lagoons and reefs, and found near crevices and caves during the day. Usually found at depths between 10 – 85 feet (3 – 25 m) where it feeds on small fishes and crustaceans/zooplankton during evening hours.
General Husbandry: Husbandry: Has a silvery coppery body with a dark saddle on the upper caudal peduncle. As of 2016, not yet purposely collected for the trade.
