Range: Eastern Atlantic Ocean: Azores, Madeira, and Canary Islands, and West Africa between Senegal and Point Noire, Congo.
Size: 5 inches (12 cm)
Natural Environment: Inhabits rocky reefs where sandy and weedy areas exist at depths between 15 to 150 feet (5 – 45 m) where it feeds mainly on planktonic crustaceans (copepods, mysis, and shrimp larvae), fish eggs, and algae.
General Husbandry: Not yet seen in the trade due to its very limmited collection areas, and that it’s somewhat drab, having browish yellow body with a wide black band on both lobes of the tail, and also black edging on the dorsal and anal fins.
