Range: Western Central Pacific Ocean: New Caledonia, Lord Howe, Kermadec islands and Hawaii.

Size: 16 inches (40 cm)

Natural Environment: Inhabits rocky seaward reefs and usually found at depths between 3 - 200 feet (1 – 60 m) where it sucks up the substrate to feed on various invertebrates.

General Husbandry: Occasionally seen in the trade, having a white body with several brown slanted bars.

This slow moving species is best maintained in fish-only aquariums having much swimming space and non-aggressive tankmates.

As to diet, enriched chopped fresh fish or shrimp flesh, and/or frozen carnivore foods should be fed twice daily.
