Hello Bob,
It has been awhile since our last discussions and I was now wondering about using a local water source for evaporation makeup and water changes in my marine aquarium. There is a local 24/7 water spring where water flows up through the ground through some PVC pipe. I'm not sure whether or not it could be used and wonder if you have any information as to whether anyone else is using spring water? I would appreciate any information you can send my way.

Yes, it's been a long time since we chatted, but happy to see your still in the hobby. As to the spring water, you don't say if its being used for drinking purposes. Even 'if' its being used for drinking water, I would still highly recommend asking the local water municipal company to test it and give you a copy of the results. Remember, phosphates could be high enough, even though the water is OK to drink, to still cause algae problems in the aquarium, or nitrates could be somewhat high, especially if you live near farm country. I would not use it until it gets a clean bill of health, at least from someone or some company that understands water chemistry and government regulations.
