This species forms clusters or stands of grapes similar to Caulerpa racemosa or bubbles, similar to the green Valonia or Ventricaria species. The better looking species, e.g., Botryocladia botryoides/uvaria are tasty to many herbivores, and also quite sensitive to changes in water quality. The B. skottsbergii species, often called Red Valonia is quite devastating, therefore read carefully its description below.
