Likely Fish-Only Tank Suitable
Common names include Brown Daisy, Clove Polyp, Palm Tree Polyps, and Fern Polyps, and that's only the beginning! These are encrusting mat-like photosynthetic soft corals that form mats and/or clumps. They are found in shades of brown and/or shades of green flower-like polyps and reproduce via a creeping stolon. Most seem to do well under moderate lighting and prefer moderate water current. Many species have attractive feathery tentacles that when fully extended resemble palm trees. There are 4 species in the genus Clavularia: C. hamra, C. inflata, C. modesto (Atlantic Ocean species) and C. viridis mentioned below. Even though there are somewhat different looking species, most seem to have the same husbandry requirements as mentioned below.
